Trauma and Neurodiversity Are long term difficulties due to complex and traumatic experiences (often going back to childhood) continuing to make life challenging for you? Do you wonder if you may have PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, or depression and would like to talk to someone about it? To add to this complexity are you neurodiverse or suspect you are? Perhaps you been to therapy before and could not find the right fit? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you are like many of my clients. My Approach Healing is holistic which means we need a top-down and a bottom-up approach. Using an Internal Family Systems approach we will seek to understand why you do what you do (there is always a reason). We may introduce music therapy through the Safe and Sound Protocol which supports nervous system regulation. We may also introduce neurodiverse affirming approaches to DBT, mindfulness and a variety of other perspectives. It is based on what you need. When I work with couples I typically use Gottman Couple's therapy to support relationship growth. A Newer Therapist with A Life Time of Experience Before going back to school, I spent a life-time working with people from diverse cultural, social economic and religious/spiritual backgrounds. Along the way, I raised two neurodivergent children (and learned a great deal about myself along the way) and developed a passion for a neurodiversity affirming world. My favorite pastime is volunteering in public policy advocacy roles covering a wide range of topics including trauma-informed care, mental health supports, climate, Truth and Reconciliation and more. When I am not volunteering I love to read (audio, e-book, and paper!), and walk my dog. Finally, with 30 years of marriage, adult children and aging parents I understand the challenges and rewards that we inherit from the past, bring to the present and will transmit to the future unless we take steps to break the cycle. If you are looking for a judgement free space to explore, please reach out for a free consultation to see if we may be a good fit.
