Eric Fisher
Canadian Certified Counsellor
Originally from the US state of Tennessee, Eric firmly believes in tailoring treatment to each individual's unique needs rather than employing a one-size-fits-all approach. He has held various positions, including practicum supervisor for master's level students pursuing a career in counselling, mobile therapist, group therapy facilitator, clinical counsellor, and professional consultant. Eric aims to be empathic, approachable, kind, curious, and competent. One of his goals with therapy is to help others open doors that have yet to be opened, close doors that need closing, and explore rooms that need to be explored to open up blind spots.
He is a master practitioner of ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), which is often used for trauma, depression, anxiety, and other concerns. He is also basic-trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). In addition, he holds the credential of a certified clinical services provider for ADHD (ADHD-CCSP) and a certified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a personality assessment.
When Eric is not working, he likes to hike in the woods during the summer or cycle on local and distant paths. He also enjoys travelling to new destinations near and far, attending music concerts, trying out new foods (Ethiopian food, delicious!), and meeting new people on his life's journey.
Eric published a non-fiction book in 2024: "The Martial Art of Recovery: Self-Mastery Practices to Subdue Addiction and Achieve Mental Wellness." He's lived on two continents and interned with the FBI twice. With a background in martial arts, Eric appreciates the themes that have similarities with therapy: awareness, balance, self-respect, self-control, and discipline.
