Jordyn Pakkala
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Jordyn is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She has recently earned her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree from Yorkville University. Prior to starting her work in the counselling setting, she has 2+ years of experience working with neurodivergent adolescents in a school setting and most recently as a local community support worker for neurodivergent adults.
She feels like a strong rapport and therapeutic alliance with clients is a foundational and key contributor to counselling success. Jordyn is drawn to diversifying and applying techniques from various counselling modalities including but not limited to Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic and Client Centered approaches, as well as Mindfulness. Jordyn has experience working with older children, adolescents, and young adults but is eager to work toward expanding her exposure and competence to work with couples, groups and older adults. She has a special interest in working with clients facing challenges with anxiety, self-harm, stress, relationships, depression, pregnancy, postpartum, fertility challenges, grief, life transitions, self-esteem and neurodiversity.
Jordyn's goal is to work collaboratively with the client as the experts of their own stories and be fully present on the client's journey through exploration of current strengths and attainable strategies that lead to positive outcomes. She prides herself as being a very inclusive, warm, welcoming, and understanding counsellor that honours not only the guidance that she can offer clients, but also the experiences that clients will offer her in return.
