Kirti Agarwal
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)
When one individual tries to solve multiple problems at the same time, things can easily get overwhelming. My sessions focus on helping my clients narrow down their problems to manageable goals, help them detangle their thoughts and gain clarity on their situation. I help them manage overwhelming emotions, such as anxiety, guilt and shame, and gain a sense of direction when dealing with life transitions. My approach helps my clients focus on parts of their problem that are within their control, while making sure that these changes have a trickle effect on aspects they want to change, but have no control over.
My personal and professional background allows me a depth of experience and passion in cultural and queer competency. I maintain that the nuances of one’s struggles cannot be disconnected from the intersection of their identities. This diversity includes not only one’s culture, gender, and sexuality, but also their upbringing, experience of trauma, and more.
With a strong belief in self-compassion, I use a strength-based approach to therapy. My methodology works towards identifying your internal and external strengths and resources, and employing them towards making change. I insist that it is my role to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable in sharing your struggles. Your role is to come as you are.
