Dr. Shaofan Bu, C.Psych.
Psychologist
I offer a supportive and nonjudgmental space where we can work together to understand your difficulties and the underlying patterns that have shaped them. Many people come to me feeling stuck in emotional or relational struggles and seeking deeper insight into themselves and their experiences.
With over 10 years of clinical experience, I have worked extensively with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, trauma, grief, and challenges in intimate relationships. My primary therapeutic orientation is psychoanalytic, with a focus on how thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and current difficulties interact. I also offer short-term therapy when the goal is symptom reduction, stabilization, or support during a particularly difficult period.
In our initial sessions, I focus on gaining a thorough understanding of your concerns, personal history, and expectations for therapy. I will explain my approach, what therapy involves, and how we might work together. From there, we develop a treatment plan suited to your needs and circumstances.
I hold a doctorate in Counselling Psychology from McGill University and have pursued ongoing advanced training at the Institute of Psychoanalysis (UK) and the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis. I am a clinical psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
