Emma Chan
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
I use a client-centred and collaborative approach to therapy, believing that you are the expert on your life, not me. My role is to support you as you explore your unique experiences, hold a safe space for difficult emotions, and offer new ways to conceptualize life’s challenges. Embracing a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive, and culturally-informed perspective, I work to create a safe and non-judgmental space for clients of all genders, family groups, and sexual orientations.
As an integrative therapist, I combine facets of various approaches to create a plan tailored just for you. I mainly draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic styles.
I bring a strong educational background to my practice. I hold an undergraduate honours degree in psychology with a specialization in mental health and recently completed a Master of Education in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto. Committed to maintaining the highest standards in the field, I am licenced as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I draw from a diverse and enriching previous career where I provided invaluable support to children and families through science education.
