Clinical Psychology Resident

Life can be complicated, stressful and overwhelming, and childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood are no exception. During these periods of rapid growth and development, difficulties may arise with emotion regulation, distressing thoughts, and maladaptive behaviour patterns that result in social, emotional, academic, or familial challenges. Making the decision to seek help is not an easy one, and if you are reading this, congratulations on taking this important first step. As a doctoral candidate in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Toronto, I provide assessment and therapy services for individuals and families who are experiencing a wide range of mood, anxiety, behaviour, adjustment, and family issues. During our first appointments together, we will collaboratively consider and clarify goals for treatment. We will assess your unique strengths and challenges, factors that may be underlying and maintaining challenges, and how your personal strengths can be harnessed to help you achieve your goals. In individual therapy, we will work collaboratively to address ongoing issues, with you determining the pace and content of discussions. I also provide psychological assessment services, examining learning difficulties, social-emotional challenges, mood, anxiety, trauma, attention, disruptive behaviour, and other challenges. I have over a decade of experience providing psychological services in the Toronto District School Board, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and various private practice settings. Providing evidence-based care is important to me, so outside of clinical work, I am an active producer and consumer of research, authoring peer-reviewed articles in scholarly journals and presenting my findings at scientific conferences. My current research projects examine factors that facilitate or hinder positive therapeutic outcomes in children with a variety of mental health needs. I am passionate about promoting treatment engagement and reducing barriers to care to best meet the needs of all clients and helping them to flourish regardless of their circumstances. *Anneesa Singh is a Clinical Psychology Resident under the supervision of Dr. Nalini Iype & Dr. Lila Hakim at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships.
