Roman Rytsar, PhD, RP, CSAT

Since 2012, Roman has been serving patients, families, and staff, as a full-time chaplain at The Ottawa Hospital. Roman’s approach is to use psychotherapy when working with people in distress, crisis, dealing with grief, guilt, and losses. In his practice, he assesses spiritual and emotional needs using a Client-Centered approach with tools of Rogerian, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Spiritually Focused therapy, Existential, and Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Roman’s main focus is to support those facing crisis situations; sexual addiction; listening and facilitating communication; responding to their spiritual needs using their own spiritual tools; guiding through grief process. His main goal is to promote hope encourage healing, to achieve peace, and to heal broken relationships. Roman holds a doctoral degree in Eastern Christian Theology from Saint Paul University. He is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Roman finished two basic and two advanced units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Roman became a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), one of a few in Ottawa. Roman finished basic training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), and is in the process of obtaining full certification. Additionally, Roman is offering counselling through Zoom. Roman is able to offer part-time psychotherapy services as an Independent Contractor to The Whitestone Clinic. Roman offers services in the languages of English, Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian.
