Marjan Emami
Clinical Counsellor - Registered Therapeutic Counsellor
My path to becoming a clinical counsellor began long before I officially entered the field. I started my career as a family physician, guided by a deep desire to understand and ease human suffering. Over time, I came to see that while medicine could treat the body, it often could not reach the invisible wounds that shape how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others.
A personal tragedy became a turning point—bringing me face to face with the depth of human pain and the profound capacity for healing that lives within it. This experience transformed my understanding of health and led me to explore what it truly means to heal—not merely to recover, but to return to wholeness.
My counselling practice is rooted in compassion, presence, and a deep respect for the human experience. I draw inspiration from the teachings of Dr. Gabor Maté, whose insights into trauma, attachment, and human development have profoundly shaped my work. I also integrate the somatic wisdom of Peter Levine, the neurobiological framework of Dan Siegel, and the spiritual teachings of Eckhart Tolle, Rumi, and J. Krishnamurti.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that healing happens when we address both our human-ness and our being-ness—when we hold our pain with curiosity rather than judgment, and allow our most wounded parts to be met with understanding.
In my sessions, I offer a space where clients can explore the patterns that keep them stuck, reconnect with their authentic selves, and cultivate a sense of inner freedom. My approach is gentle yet grounded, informed by attachment theory and a deep trust in the body’s innate wisdom.
Healing is about seeing who we truly are beneath the layers of protection and pain.
Healing is possible. Freedom is available. Peace is attainable.
