At Empowering Roots in Brampton, Ontario, we offer culturally sensitive therapy tailored to your unique experiences.

Biography

I’m Gulrukh Khan, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), owner and founder of Empowering Roots. I help high-functioning people of colour: South Asian, immigrant, and BIPOC professionals. Folks who look like they “have it all together” on the outside, but inside feel exhausted, anxious, or unseen. Many of my clients grew up balancing cultural expectations with their own personal needs. They carry the weight of people-pleasing, perfectionism, and intergenerational wounds, constantly striving to keep the peace, succeed, and care for everyone else, while silently neglecting themselves. This often shows up as anxiety, sleep struggles, emotional outbursts, body tension, guilt, or feeling like you’re “never enough.” I know how painful it is to silence your voice just to belong, or to feel torn between your culture and your own well-being. That’s why I create a safe space where you can finally exhale, explore the patterns holding you back, and reconnect with the parts of you that deserve healing. In therapy, we’ll work together to: -Break free from guilt, shame, and cultural pressures. -Heal intergenerational wounds that keep repeating across family lines. -Build healthier relationships without losing yourself. -Rediscover your identity so you can move through life with clarity, confidence, and peace. My approach integrates trauma-informed, attachment-based, IFS, and somatic tools, all tailored to your unique story. Whether you’re navigating grief, burnout, or relationship struggles, therapy is about finding balance between honouring your heritage and honouring yourself. Because you are not broken. You are carrying burdens that were never yours to begin with — and together, we can release them.
