Korotana Psychology
About
I am a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults. Currently, I am the owner of a private practice - Korotana Psychology - where I provide support for a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, OCD, parent-child relationship concerns, and other emotion/behavior regulation challenges.
Biography
I obtained my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Calgary and completed a residency in Pediatric and Child Clinical Psychology at Alberta Children’s Hospital. I subsequently worked as a Medical Psychologist with the Neurosciences, Pain, and Sleep Clinics at Alberta Children’s Hospital from 2015-2023. In 2023, I moved into private practice, where I have enjoyed expanding the scope of my services. I am a strong advocate for the importance of evidence-based treatment - i.e., treatment that has been proven by research to be effective. Currently, I have training and experience providing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I also integrate components of attachment theory, self-compassion work, and mind-body practices, and value staying informed of the latest research on evidence-based determinants of mental health. My goal is to support my clients to build insight, develop coping tools, and create change in their lives that supports empowerment and leaves them feeling stronger than before. I also provide support for parent-child relationship concerns, recognizing that a strong parent-child relationship can support youth resilience and protect against adverse life experiences. As a parent myself, I understand parenting is hard (really hard!) and many factors can challenge the parent-child relationship. I provide a safe, shame-free environment where parents can share their parenting challenges and receive support to better understand their child’s experience, improve parent-child communication, and strengthen family connections. If you are interested in working together, I would love to connect over a 15-minute complimentary phone consult to explore if my services are a good fit for you. Just click to send me a message and you'll hear from me soon!
