Yasmin Rombola-Bacchus
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
(She/Her)
I believe therapy is a safe space to explore your concerns, feelings, and the issues most important to you, in order to connect with your most authentic self. Seeking therapy can be difficult. I would like to acknowledge the strength and courage required to take this first step and thank you for being here.
My journey to becoming a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) began through my own personal navigation of mental health challenges and the gratitude that I held, and continue to hold, for the positive therapeutic experiences I encountered in my life. I began my undergraduate work in Psychology at University of Guelph before completing my diploma in Psychodynamics at Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling College, where my research focused on addressing anxiety, power dynamics, and individual’s experiences with trauma among other things.
My approach to therapy is rooted in collaboration between client and therapist. Together, we draw on your personal insights to guide you toward growth and empowerment. I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable exploring the issues that are causing you distress. I work through a psychodynamic lens, understanding that our experiences are deeply shaped by the way we interact with the world and those around us. The patterns we carry within ourselves often emerge in our relationships and everyday lives. In addition to psychodynamic theory, I also draw from CBT and DBT, integrating techniques that best support your unique needs. I consider myself an integrative psychotherapist, paying close attention to broader sociocultural influences, aspects of identity, and relational dynamics. Our experiences and processes are complex and ever‑evolving, and I believe therapy should honor that rather than fit neatly into a single box.
I work with individuals (children, adolescents and adults) of diverse backgrounds, genders, sexual identities and relationship configurations. I help clients work through a range of concerns including anxiety, grief, identity, depression, suicidal ideation, life transitions, relationships, confidence & self-esteem, stress, intimacy & sexuality, LGBTQ2IA+, and anger.
I am a strong advocate for self-compassion and self-care. I seek to incorporate these into my own life as much as I encourage clients to. A few of the things that fill my soul with joy include taking my dog, Dublin to the dog park, spending time with friends and family, travelling and trying out new restaurants.
