Erika Szabo
Registered Social Service Worker, Psychotherapist
My name is Erika. I'm a white, cis-gender queer woman with lived experience of complex trauma. I work from a person-centered, relational, and anti-oppressive lens and embody this in the work I do!
Do these sound familiar...
- Do you ever feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world?
- Maybe you find yourself thinking, "I’ll never be good enough," or questioning if you’re a burden to those around you.
- You might struggle to accept kindness, doubting if others genuinely care, or feel like happiness is always just out of reach.
I've been there and am happy to walk alongside you as you navigate this path.
I have spent over six years supporting folks who have endured the deep/lasting impacts of sexual assault, domestic violence, complex family dynamics, or childhood adversities. I spent over three years working with the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape as a crisis line counsellor, supervisor, and coordinator for their 24/7 crisis line. I also spent over three years working at Pathways to Independence as a Residential Support Worker supporting individuals facing physical and developmental disabilities alongside mental health diagnoses in the Dual Diagnosis web. I know that facing these challenges takes immense bravery, and I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own healing. I'm here to help you tap into your innate wisdom.
I use a trauma-informed, mindfulness-based approach that embraces the importance of the mind-body connection. Whether you're interested in meditation, art making, somatics, or simply an empathic ear, I will hold space for you in whatever way you need. I look forward to hearing from you!
