Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

It takes courage to consider taking the first step in the therapy process and I would be honoured to take this journey with you. Starting therapy can be a challenging and vulnerable time in your life. By entering therapy, you can learn to better understand yourself and make the necessary changes to live a happier and more fulfilled life. In our collaborative work together, we can work on addressing difficult thoughts, behaviours, and emotions in order to overcome your challenges in life. My approach to therapy is collaborative as I believe you to know your story best. I would be there to help explore your history, and unhelpful thoughts, behaviours, and challenging emotions to help tackle the goals you have throughout the process. I consider building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship, with a good therapeutic fit to be the most important foundation of your journey in therapy. We will work together to find the right approach that works for you. I have worked in providing therapy for clients with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, postpartum and perinatal concerns, concerns with interpersonal relationships, disordered eating, among other concerns. I draw from a rich background and training in evidence-based approaches including: Narrative therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Emotion Focused, Person-Centred, and Art Therapy interventions. When utilizing these therapeutic modalities, I will check in to ensure our work is client-centred and focused on empowering you to make the changes that you would like to see in yourself. I will work with you, to give you the space to feel comfortable and openness to talk about the difficult moments in your life, and together we can collaborate throughout the therapy process. In your initial sessions, we will discuss what brought you to therapy as well as what goals you want to achieve through therapy. We will also explore your background and history to understand your presenting concerns and learn about you through scientifically-based assessment to help you and I understand your specific challenges. We will work together to identify the root cause of your concerns and create a roadmap collaboratively to empower you to discover how to live your healthiest and most fulfilling life. I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and graduated with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships, working under the supervision of Dr. Mélodie Britt, C.Psych. I am always committed to continuing my professional development through additional training. I have recently completed Level 1 Gottman Couples Therapy Training and Art Therapy intervention training. I have experience working with children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals. I look forward to an opportunity to begin your therapy journey together.
