Kim Cooke
Psychotherapist
Hi! My name is Kim Cooke. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and an Accredited Music Therapist (MTA), deeply passionate about guiding the people I work with through their journey toward mental wellness and personal growth.
My practice focuses on working with pre-teens, teens, and adults, and I implement a variety of approaches into my work that is tailored to each unique client through collaboration and teamwork, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), attachment work, and music therapy.
If you are navigating the waters of depression, grief, stress, anxiety, self-harm, or suicidal ideation, we may be a good fit. I use a person-centred and strengths-based approach, collaborating with you to work towards the goals that feel the most important for you. As a trained music therapist, we can also incorporate music and art into our sessions.
A significant aspect of my work involves addressing issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. These are deeply personal and often painful experiences that require a compassionate and empathetic approach. My own journey with mental health has been a cornerstone of my practice. Having navigated similar struggles, I bring a unique perspective and a deep sense of empathy to my work. I understand the courage it takes to seek help and the profound impact that effective therapy can have on one’s life.
My ultimate goal is to empower my clients to lead more balanced and fulfilling lives. By combining my extensive therapeutic training with my personal insights into mental health and my unique approach to music therapy, I aim to provide a holistic and empathetic approach to therapy.
Reaching out for help can feel scary at times - trust me, I know. It is my goal to offer an accepting, inclusive, and brave space to help you feel more comfortable as you work towards your goals, whether through psychotherapy or music therapy. I also offer a free consultation to make sure that this feels like a good fit for you - no strings attached!
