Biography
I am a trauma-informed counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma, displacement, and systemic adversity. My clinical focus includes PTSD, complex trauma, grief, addiction, and adjustment difficulties, with an emphasis on helping clients rebuild stability, meaning, and emotional regulation following distressing life experiences. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as CBT, EMDR-informed interventions, narrative therapy, and strengths-based approaches, tailored to each person’s needs and cultural context. My work is grounded in a collaborative, client-centered approach that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment rather than pathologizing lived experience. My practice is deeply informed by my lived experience as a refugee and my background in public health and community mental health. This gives me a strong understanding of migration stress, identity disruption, and the long-term psychological impact of conflict and displacement, as well as the resilience that emerges through recovery. I have worked with refugees, immigrants, first responders, and individuals navigating complex psychosocial challenges. I pay particular attention to how trauma intersects with culture, identity, and systems of care, and I strive to make therapy accessible, relevant, and culturally responsive. In my work, I emphasize both insight and practical change—supporting clients not only in understanding their experiences but also in building concrete skills for emotional regulation, coping, and restoring a sense of agency and direction in their lives.
