Biography

Hi, I'm Yuka I’m glad that you’re here! I’m a neurodivergent Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, and a person of colour with lived experience navigating neurodivergence. I hold a Master of Counselling degree from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Law and Society. I am currently completing my Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy degree to deepen my clinical expertise and strengthen my contributions to neurodiversity research and practice. My personal journey, including undergoing brain surgery and navigating mental health challenges, has fueled my passion for clinical counselling and holistic well-being, encompassing both the mind and body. Born in Japan, raised in Singapore, and now living in Canada, I bring a multicultural and third culture perspective that honours the intersection of culture, identity, and lived experience to my practice. As an AuDHD (Autism + ADHD) counsellor, I understand the importance of feeling heard, understood, and accepted. I prioritize creating a neurodiversity-affirming and inclusive space for individuals at every stage of their journey, whether you have received a formal diagnosis, suspect you may be neurodivergent, or are navigating a diagnosis, including ADHD and/or Autism. I provide personalized and evidence based psychotherapy that aligns with each individual’s unique strengths, needs, and goals. I value and honour diversity by adopting a collaborative, empathic, and eclectic counselling approach to my practice, honouring the uniqueness of each individual’s experience.
