I became a therapist, like so many therapists, because I’ve had my own struggles. They’ve included depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, problem behaviors, hating myself and then… finally, understanding and healing. So many of us struggle with overwhelming distress. Whether it's relationships, work, identity, stress, anxiety or depression, counselling can really help. I work with many neurodivergent clients and I love discovering how each of us is unique and how each person wants to be supported. When you feel deeply alone, sad, ashamed or guilty sometimes it seems impossible to see past your past. Clients have talked about being down there in ‘the pit’, not being able to see any light, and the terrible fear of never getting better. If you are in that pit, there are tools and strategies we can use to make a plan, to build a ladder, and with support and encouragement, help you get yourself out of that pit. Nobody deserves to keep suffering that way. So much can change for the better. My counselling approach varies depending on your needs. I use EMDR therapy, CPT for PTSD, Mindfulness (which is not the same as meditation), parts therapy using the IFS framework, DBT and CBT.
