I'm a seasoned and approachable Registered Psychotherapist with more than 17 years in the field. I currently work with adults (18+), healthcare providers, post-secondary students, and writers/creatives. Given my varied background in outpatient, residential, and university settings, I'm professionally equipped to treat a range of mental health concerns. In terms of my general therapeutic orientation, I draw heavily from attachment-based, existential, psychodynamic, relational psychoanalysis, and trauma-informed traditions. As for techniques, I tailor these to my clients' needs and will happily integrate acceptance and commitment, dialectical behaviour skill-building, cognitive behavioural, solution-focused, and other strategies when useful. In terms of my personality, I'm open-minded, authentic, and down-to-earth. In sessions, I work to build a genuine connection with my clients, tend to be fairly direct, and like to use humour when appropriate. My fee for 50 minute individual sessions is $150 with limited sliding scale availability and I offer all potential clients a free 20 minute consultation to see if we might be a good match. Many Canadian insurers cover services rendered by a Registered Psychotherapist but you will want to verify your coverage prior to booking an appointment.
