About

My approach is integrative and conversational with a focus on intersectionality and the therapeutic relationship. I have specialized training in ACT for ADHD, CBT-I (for Insomnia) and have worked with young parents and women who have survived or are fleeing violence.

Biography

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) based in Toronto, deeply committed to supporting individuals on their mental health and wellness journeys. My approach is warm, empathetic, and trauma-informed, and I work primarily with clients navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, including transition into parenthood. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (graduated December 2024), and I also hold an Honours BA in Psychology from York University and a diploma in Assaulted Women’s and Children’s Counselling/Advocacy from George Brown College. My learning never stops—I’ve continued to build my skills through training in approaches like CBT-I, ACT for ADHD, EFT, and the Gottman Method. In my private practice, Shannon Deeley Psychotherapy, I provide individual therapy to a diverse range of clients. I also had the opportunity to work as a resident therapist at ALLI Therapy, where I gained valuable experience delivering client-centred therapy under supervision. Before moving into psychotherapy full-time, I spent over 20 years working with diverse communities through roles in social services, community health, and hospitality. I’ve facilitated workshops on topics ranging from sexual health to financial literacy, and I’ve supported young families through challenging life situations. As a solo parent who balanced school, work, and caregiving, I bring lived experience, deep empathy, and a practical, grounded approach to the therapy room. I believe in creating a safe, inclusive space where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to heal and grow.
